For the sixth time, PYA has earned the designation of “Top Workplace” by Knox News. Additionally, PYA President and CEO Marty Brown received a 2024 Knox News Top Workplaces Leadership Award. PYA is the only accounting and professional services firm named in the midsize category.
The Top Workplaces designations recognize companies in East Tennessee that create outstanding workplace cultures for employees. The award is based solely on employee feedback gathered through an anonymous, voluntary third-party survey that measures several aspects of the workplace culture including alignment, execution, and connection. In 2024, more than 27,000 employees were surveyed across 130 companies.
The Leadership Award is based on employee survey results compared across all results in each category. The award reflects a consensus of employees who relayed they trust the leader and believe he is leading the company in a positive direction.

PYA Named One of USA TODAY’s Most Recommended Tax Firms in America for Second Consecutive Year

PYA has again been named by USA TODAY as one of America’s Most Recommended Tax Firms. The firm’s tax services were also recognized in the inaugural report last year.
The 2025 list is based on a national survey of tax professionals and their clients conducted by Statista, an independent market research institute. The survey assessed peer reputation by requesting up to 10 recommendations in the event a tax firm was unable to take on a client. It also gauged market perceptions by asking clients to name up to 10 tax firms they would endorse based on their experiences over the last three years. To be included, companies needed a minimum number of recommendations.

The USA TODAY recognition follows the launch of PYA’s new International Tax service line, announced in January. The new offering will help clients plan, design, and execute effective tax strategies that comply with complex international laws. The PYA team will also support clients in controversy management, the implementation of new business models, assimilation for intercompany transactions, negotiation of tax language, and assistance with capital structuring and repatriation for global procurement, information systems, intellectual property, and other services.

The firm, which serves clients in all 50 states, is named the leader in consulting among U.S. firms under $100 million, up from the No. 2 spot in 2023. Also, PYA ranks among the Top 100 accounting firms across the nation, the eighth year for this designation, and PYA is recognized as one of the Top 10 largest firms in the Southeast and the second largest headquartered in Tennessee.
The annual rankings are based on total revenues, percentage of revenue increase, number of employees, and other metrics collected through a survey process of accounting firms.

According to the Accounting Today report, the Top 100 firms showed substantial revenue growth across the board in 2023, but they face a continuing struggle to attract and retain top talent due to the dwindling pipeline of new graduates. The service line with the highest growth rate in 2023 is client advisory services, in which firms are seeing the promise of more growth and the ability to better serve clients.
