PYA partnered with Grassi Healthcare Advisors to present a live one-hour video session, “Rebuilding Census in Your Skilled Nursing Facility,” Thursday, May 20, 2021. The session was the second part of the “Restoring Financial Health During and After the COVID-19 Crisis” series.
PYA Chief Financial Officer and Managing Principal of Consulting Services David McMillan joined Grassi Healthcare Advisors Chief Executive Officer Joseph Tomaino to discuss how skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) have been disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, factors that have led to a decline in census, and strategies for your facility in turning it around. They covered topics such as:
- Dealing with post-COVID public perceptions and your SNF’s image.
- Identifying niche opportunities in the communities you serve.
- Using data analytics to understand hospital referral patterns and opportunities you may be missing.
In addition to David and Joseph, Kelly Farrell, a nationally recognized healthcare branding expert, joined the discussion. Kelly provided professional recommendations on how to address and overcome the current perceptions of SNFs as we continue to recover from the pandemic.
